The Houston Independent School District, The University of Texas System Institute for Public School Initiatives, and Battelle for Kids will host the second annual Differentiated Compensation in Education Symposium on Nov. 9–10, 2009, at the Marriott Houston West Loop. This day-and-a-half symposium explores critical issues, practical applications, and lessons learned by districts in Texas and around the nation that are developing and implementing new strategic compensation methods for teachers. Nov. 9 will be a Texas-focused half-day session and Nov. 10 will be targeted to a national audience. Go to the Battelle for Kids Web Site to register.
Our new workshop on Staffing Controls for Public Schools will be taught by Richard Lane, TASB staffing consultant. The first workshop is sold out but there is still time to register for the second workshop on Jan. 28.
