Electricity Aggregation
The TASB Electricity Aggregation Program helps school districts and other governmental entities address their energy needs under Texas electric deregulation. TASB's electricity program gives participants an easy, cost-effective way to meet competitive procurement requirements that now apply to electricity and earn a competitive rate for the deregulated portion of their electricity bill.
The energy products available through the program are obtained through a competitive procurement process and are designed to offer a range of options for pricing and term of electricity services. TASB bundles all the electric usage and issues into a single aggregated proposal.
In 2005, Direct Energy, was selected through a competitive solicitation process to provide retail electric power (REP) services for program members, including billing, payment, account switching, and general customer service. Direct Energy, with oversight by TASB, also competitively solicits the wholesale marketplace for the electric commoditiy on behalf of the members.
The Electricity Aggregation Program uses a team of outside consultants with many years of experience in the Texas energy arena, along with the experience and expertise of Direct Energy, to provide direction in navigating the very complex world of procuring electricity in a deregulated market.
