Linda Ellerbee
Graduate of Houston Lamar High School
A journalist, award-winning television producer, and best-selling author, Linda Ellerbee is also one of the most sought-after speakers in America, a breast cancer survivor, and a mom.
Ellerbee began her television career at CBS, then moved to “NBC News,” where she cultivated a following in the 1980s with the news program “NBC News Overnight,” which she wrote and anchored. In 1986, Ellerbee moved to “ABC News” to anchor and write “Our World,” a prime-time historical series. In 1987, Ellerbee quit the networks to start Lucky Duck Productions.
Although Ellerbee has won all of television’s highest honors, she says it is her two children who’ve brought her the richest rewards.
“I received a first-rate education in the Texas public school system, specifically in Houston, at River Oaks Elementary, Lanier Junior High, and Lamar High School. I was blessed with good teachers in every grade, and if I have been fortunate in my work and have achieved some success, I feel I owe a great debt to the Texas public school system, as I quit college after a year and a half.”
