Reyes Reelected to Statewide Association Board

(Austin) – The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) has reelected Martha “Marty” Reyes of Ysleta ISD to a three-year term on the TASB Board of Directors, representing TASB Region 19B.
A former business owner, Reyes is a dedicated and proud member of the Lower Valley community and has been active as a small business advocate. She has served on the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (HCC) Board of Directors and the Executive Board, and the El Paso Community College Foundation Board. She also served as an advisor for the Women’s Business Center.  

Reyes has served on the Ysleta ISD Board since May 2001. She is currently president of the board, having previously served as vice-president and secretary, and is chair of the Far West Texas School Board Association, Region 19. Reyes was appointed by TASB as a delegate to the Federal Relations Network representing Region 19. She is a graduate of Leadership TASB and currently serves on the TASB Legislative Committee and alternate on the Nominations Committee. In 2004, Reyes was named Ysleta High School Honored Ex for her outstanding achievements as a product of the Ysleta community, and she continues to be a tireless advocate for the children in YISD. She attended The University of Texas at El Paso.

TASB is a nonprofit organization established in 1949 to serve local Texas school districts. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 4.7 million public school students.
