Mott Elected to Statewide Association Board

(Austin) -- The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) has elected Vernagene Mott of Pflugerville ISD to a one-year term on the TASB Board of Directors, representing TASB Region 13C. 

Mott is the secretary for the Pflugerville ISD board of trustees and has served on the board for four years. After attending Pflugerville High School, Mott graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor of arts in math and chemistry. Prior to retiring in 2003, she was a teacher at Pflugerville High School, served as chair for both math and science, and was a National Honor Society sponsor. Mott was a member of the Texas Classroom Teachers Association from 1964 through 2003.

Mott is a charter member and founder of the Pflugerville Education Foundation. She is also a charter member of Pflugerville’s Heritage House Museum, and founder and publicity officer for the Heritage House Partners. In other civic involvement, Mott has worked with the Lower Colorado River Authority Watershed Watch Education Committee, as well as serving on the Manville Water Supply Company board of directors. She is an active member of her church, having served as chair of the Immanuel Lutheran Church’s 125th Anniversary Committee. The Greater Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce recognized Mott with its Lifetime Achievement Award.

TASB is a nonprofit organization established in 1949 to serve local Texas school districts. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 4.6 million public school students.
