Contreras Reelected to Statewide Association Board

(Austin) – The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) has reelected Fred Contreras of Grape Creek ISD to a three-year term on the TASB Board of Directors, representing TASB Region 15.
Contreras, president of the Grape Creek ISD board, has served the district for 11 years. Retired from the military and self-employed, he attended high school in Highland, California, then pursued further studies at San Bernardino Valley College and the University of Maryland. He is vice-president of the Pachyderm Club and previously served as vice-president of VOYCE Mentoring and president of the Grant Center of the Concho Valley.
TASB is a nonprofit organization established in 1949 to serve local Texas school districts. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 4.6 million public school students.
