Blount Reelected to Statewide Association Board

(Austin) – The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) has reelected Bobby Blount Jr. of Northside ISD to a three-year term on the TASB Board of Directors, representing TASB Region 20B.

Blount is a member and past president of the Northside ISD (NISD) board in San Antonio. He joined the TASB Board in September 2007 and has served on the Lone Star Investment Pool Board since April 2005.

Blount earned his law degree from George Mason University. He also holds a master’s degree in systems management from St. Mary’s University and a bachelor’s degree in engineering science from the United States Air Force Academy. He currently works as an engineer for the MITRE Corporation.

He has served in a variety of capacities in furthering education opportunities for all students. He is president of the Bexar County School Boards’ Coalition and the founder and director of both the Texas Regional Science Bowl and the Texas Solar Race Car Event. Blount continues to serve the general San Antonio community as a member of the Texas Lyceum and the Youth Orchestra San Antonio and as a founder and director of the Dragons Soccer Club.
TASB is a nonprofit organization established in 1949 to serve local Texas school districts. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 4.6 million public school students.
