Does this registration fee waiver apply to consulting services?
No, the registration fee waiver applies only to training events.
Isn’t convention a shared event with the Texas Association of School Administrators?
Yes, it is a shared event, and we have been working with TASA to be able to make this benefit available to all board members and administrators from school districts and regional education service centers.
Is there a limit to how many attendees can participate?
Yes, although registration fees will be waived for school board members and administrators, advance registration will still be necessary at these events, and participation will be limited to the number that can be comfortably accommodated by the facilities.
What about other costs for attending these events?
The TASB staff is also working with hotels and other vendors in an effort to find additional cost savings for attendees. Many of our vendors have already signaled a willingness to support public education in whatever ways they can.
Will board members still get training credit for these events?
Yes, board training credit will be provided and recorded without any change.
Does the fee waiver apply to administrators?
Yes, the fee waiver applies to board members and administrators of school districts and education service centers.
How is TASB able to afford the registration fee waiver?
TASB is using its fund balance to cover the costs associated with this benefit to its active members. However, as you know, fund balances can only be used for such purposes for a limited time (this biennium) without risking the long-term financial security of the organization.
