Joshua Cerna


Region 20D

 Joshua J. Cerna currently serves on the Harlandale ISD Board. In his eight years on the board, he has served as board president twice and has held all other officer positions.  Additionally, he has chaired numerous committees and is responsible for forming the community Bond Oversight committee.

He is a graduate of Mississippi State University with a BS in Microbiology.  He worked for 7 years as a HS science teacher before beginning his own business.  He and his wife, a math teacher, have two beautiful young boys ages 5 and 3.  One started kinder this year. 

Cerna, a 2007 LTASB Master Trustee, is the current President-elect of the Mexican American School Board Members Association and a member of NALEO.  He also serves on the Legislative Advisory Council for TASB in Region 20 and on SBAN.  He is part of the founding group of the Bexar County School Board Coalition.  His civic responsibilities include member of the Knights of Columbus, CCD teacher, and member of the ACTS community.  Cerna also serves on the Board of Directors for the Somerset Education Foundation and Imagine Education Foundation.
